For Robbie is a necklace shaped by memory, making, and friendship. It honours my
recollections of Robert doing what he loved most: moving metal, coaxing it into beautiful and
singular forms. I can still picture him in his workshop, hammer in hand, completely
absorbed. I remember watching in awe as he raised a teapot, transforming flat sheets of
metal into sensuous, curving volumes. Through his hands and hammers, vessel forms
emerged, refined stroke by stroke to a flawless finish. Each blow was a transfer of energy, a confident and
precise rhythm that built into a percussive beat. The hammer silhouettes in this necklace
began as templates I made from photographs of Robert’s own hammers, still in use at F!NK. I hand cut
all 53 forms from anodised aluminium in F!NK’s signature colours, combining them with
glass and silver. Together, they embody Robert’s enduring influence on my practice and the
deep friendship we shared.
