Sian Watson
Biography
Canberra based artist, Sian Watson, is highly influenced by the natural environment. Through growing up on a farm, familiarities of life and death and the processes in which the environment generates, have developed into reoccurring themes within her work. Watson utilises the visceral reactions that people have with these processes and plays on the ideas of time and movement; referencing animals that inhibit our landscapes. Much of Watson’s work references the human relationship with the land through the means of material, scale or shape.
In 2015, Sian Watson graduated from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Visual Arts Honours (First Class). She was a recipient of many awards as part of the Emerging Artist Support Scheme (EASS) winning the Margaret Munro Mentorship, a public commission with Crafted Development Inc. as well as much of her work being acquired.
