Kate Debbo paints expressive landscapes and florals in oil paint. She often includes the symbolically charged form of the horse. For the artist, horses are a link between domesticity and a more magical, wishful and whimsical world. The horses and animals represent people and the landscapes that they frolic in are mental snapshots of her adventures with her family and her daily walks with her dog.
The landscapes are painted from memory and imagination and depict an emotional sensation rather than a direct observation. She considers each piece to be a page out of her journal and an invitation to the viewer to enter her private world.
Through all of her work, Kate hopes to convey a sense of energy and evoke a sense of joy and playfulness.
Kate currently lives and works in the beautiful Margaret River region, Western Australia.
