Jessica Ashton
Biography
Jessica Ashton is both a painter and a teacher, doubling up not only professionally,
but also artistically in her choice of subject matter.
Seeking the effervescent effects of light in our atmosphere, Ashton paints
the beauty that illuminates our skies and the innocence that pervades our being.
With a rich knowledge of art history and a bright future in art education,
Ashton`s perspective is as technically sound as it is emotionally rich.
Although unrelated, Ashton studied drawing and painting extensively at the
Julian Ashton Art School on the Sir William Dobell Scholarship for fine draughtsmanship.
Jessica currently teaches illustration at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and human anatomy at Production Art Department.
She has been a finalist in many art prizes including the Mosman Art Prize and the AME Bale Travelling Scholarship
Jessica is a two time finalist in the Archibald Prize.
